The collections
The task of The Museum of National Antiquities, The Royal Coin Cabinet and Tumba Papermill Museum is to preserve and promote Sweden's cultural heritage and provide a perspective on social development and the present. Our collections are among the greatest historical treasures in northern Europe, comprising more than 10 million individual objects catalogued under around 34,000 inventory numbers.
The collections of The Museum of National Antiquities include archaeological finds from prehistory and historical times, plus artefacts and textiles from Sweden's ecclesiastical art history. The focus of The Royal Coin Cabinet is Swedish financial history and the art of medals. The collections are based on various methods of payment and objects with numismatic links. Tumba Papermill Museum has been associated with The Royal Coin Cabinet since 2005, depicting the history of banknotes and paper along with life and work at a banknote and papermill.

The collections are constantly expanding through acquisition of objects from archaeological digs and through purchases and donations.
Large parts of our collections are digitally accessible. Consulting the catalogues and databases allows you to gain a more detailed idea of what types of objects and materials we have collected from various parts of the country.
